An easy to use User Portal gives end-users at any time control over a personal quarantine and e-mail log. Integrated encryption features allow a secure way to transmit emails and VPN access secures the native access to internal e-mail servers for mobile users from anywhere in the world.
Astaro Mail Gateways can be purchased as a Hardware Appliance, or as a Virtual Appliance.

Astaro Mail Gateway Virtual Appliances allow for easy deployment in large and complex environments. Optimized hardware allocation and reduced hardware expenditure is available since physical computers are able to run multiple instances of the software in parallel by using the underlying VMware virtualization infrastructure. Hence, it is ideally suited for managed security services and those responsible for the consolidation of several departmental networks.

How can you use it?
The Astaro Mail Gateway Virtual Appliance can be downloaded and burned independently onto a CD. It can then be installed on any system running either a VMware player, VMware workstation, VMware server or VMware ESX server. Specific licensing packages are available, varied to by the number of users/IP addresses.

As an elaborated Unified Threat Management product, Astaro Security Gateway will satisfy the requirements of most network environments while Astaro Mail Gateway is designed for special email security needs. To meet special performance and security requirements; however, it is possible to mix all solutions, the Astaro Mail Gateway, Astaro Web Gateway and Astaro Security Gateway in a network.

Is it possible to upgrade from an Astaro Mail Gateway to an Astaro Security Gateway or Astaro Web Gateway?
No. Astaro Mail Gateway is designed as a mail security product and cannot be upgraded to Unified Threat Management functionality or combined with web security features.

Astaro Mail Gateway is designed as a mail security product and comes with a special mail subscription. Further subscriptions or options are not available.

Is it possible to apply an Astaro Mail Gateway hardware license on a Astaro Mail Gateway virtual appliance and vice versa?
No. Astaro’s hardware and software products use different licensing models; they are not interchangeable.
- Does Astaro Mail Gateway still work when the maintenance contract expired?
Yes. All security applications will continue to work until their subscription expires, too. However, without maintenance contract you will not receive any pattern updates, exposing you to new emerging security threats.
